26 weeks

It's been kind of a big week here! And I'm not just talking about my belly. :)

Last week I had a reaction to a new lotion I had started using, and ended up on steroids for the week. Not a big deal, but it was a pain. The nice thing was I got to talk to my regular doctor, and found out that she's a family doctor, so she'll also be Goose's doctor. She's awesome, so it makes me really happy that she'll be able to see Goose too. Plus it's another important thing marked off what seems to be a never-ending list of things we need to do before August.

It's hard to see it here, but my belly button is starting to pop out! I really didn't think it would happen, since my belly button is normally so deep (Nick calls it my "cavern"), but it seems inevitable now.

Our wedding photographer has offered to do a free maternity session, and sent me a message this week that he'd like to do the pictures within the next couple weeks after seeing these most recent pictures on Facebook. I'm really excited to do the pictures, and if you've seen our wedding pictures, you'll know our photographers are amazing!

The really exciting news is that I had a 3D sonogram done this week. More than likely, this will be the last sono I have before Goose gets here, so it was fun to see him, but hard knowing it's probably the last time before he gets here in August. Unfortunately Nick didn't go along.

When I walked in, the tech asked me if I was having a boy or girl, and I laughed when I said it's a boy, "or at least he better still be." It was one of the first things she checked, and sure enough, he's still a he! I was telling her about how Nick was still skeptical last time, even after seeing the pictures, so she showed me this picture & told me that if she's wrong on this one, she shouldn't be doing this as her job.

There's certainly no denying that! She said a little later that Goose "sure is proud of himself," because that's all he wanted us to see. I guess he didn't want us to have any doubt. :)

He was being a bit of a stinker & didn't want to show us his face for quite a while, but we got some other really good shots.

Most of the time, he was keeping his hands and feet up in front of his face. This shot is one of my favorites, it just cracks me up. The tech called him Mr. Pretzel.

Finally, after some pushing, prodding, poking, and bouncing with the ultrasound wand, he started cooperating!

Maybe I'm a bit biased, but is that not just the sweetest face you've ever seen! :) I'll admit, I actually got choked up & cried a bit when I first got to see his face. I just couldn't get enough of it, and can't wait until I get to hold him in my arms & look into this sweet face.

He's been kicking & moving around like crazy most days, and it's always funny to see my stomach kind of bounce & twitch. Nick has gotten to feel & see a couple more good kicks, but Goose has a tendency to calm down when anybody puts their hands on my belly (so far, just Nick & I) & it takes him a bit to get going again.

Overall, I've been feeling pretty good. I have been more tired lately, but I think a big part of that is just that I'm having a hard time getting comfortable to get a good night's sleep. I also have bad days when I just feel crappy in general, and times that by the end of the day I feel like my stomach could just burst. It's like Goose is going through a growth spurt or just stretching out a lot.

I did find out at the sonogram that Goose is 2lbs 2ozs & his heartbeat was 145 bpm. The tech said he's measuring about a week big (she said a few days big at our 20 week sono), and the computer showed he was measuring at 28 weeks, even though I was right at 26 when I went. So he's either going to be big when he comes, or maybe he'll come early. I guess only time will tell!

No other really progress going on as far as Goose's room or any other preparations. I did get registered at Target though, for those who have asked about it.

Until next time...
