We went in for my 20 week ultrasound today, and everything is looking wonderful.
Goose is measuring a few days ahead of schedule, but not enough to change my due date. Weight is 12 ozs & heartbeat was 151. It was amazing to see the heart beating, we could see all four chambers pumping away. Nick got to hear the heartbeat for the first time & thought it was really cool.
Goose was being a bit of a stinker & a lot of times as soon as the tech found what she was looking for, would squirm away so she had to find it again. It was amazing how much she could find & see, Nick & I were pretty lost most of the time.
I was laying on my back pretty much exactly like this (minus the thumb sucking, of course!) when the tech took this picture:
Even though the beds are slightly elevated since it's bad for a pregnant woman to lay on her back after about 16 weeks, I started to feel really sick about 3/4 of the way through the exam. I really thought I was going to be sick, and had no idea why. I figured if laying on my back was a problem, I would start to feel light-headed, like I've heard from other people. Fortunately the tech asked if I was feeling alright just in time & had me roll to my side. I felt almost immediately better, so will have to be careful going forward. I do still lay on my back occasionally when I'm laying in bed, but never for as long as I did this morning.
Goose was laying head down, facing my back, with feet up just above & to the right of my belly button most of the time. Of course there was a lot of squirming around, which made it difficult to get another profile picture, so we're lucky we got that first one early on.
I asked the tech at one point if the machine she was using was able to do the 3d/4d ultrasound & even though she said it was too early to see anything very clearly, she did show us a few shots. We weren't able to get a good face shot, but we got to see one cute, skinny arm. I had been going back & forth about whether or not I wanted to have a full 3d/4d ultrasound done, but I think this made up my mind! Nick thought it was really cool too, so hopefully he'll be on board. Unfortunately we didn't get any print outs from that part.
At the very beginning the tech asked if we wanted to know what we were having & I was so happy to be able to say YES without any doubt. I did ask Nick if he was sure, but I told him he couldn't change his mind. ;)
It was almost the very end of the ultrasound when the tech said, "What would you say if I told you that you're having a little..."
BOY!
That's right, I've been right all along. And thank goodness, I never would have lived it down if we found out if we were having a little girl!
I thought I saw his boy parts a couple times when the tech was trying to get a good look at the spine, but wasn't certain & didn't ask.
When we got out, Nick said, "well, they could still be wrong." Sorry hunny, I don't think there's any mistaking this! :)
He's definitely all boy.
It's kind of funny, I've been saying "he" for quite a while now, but it kind of feels different now that we know for sure that he really is...well...HE!
Needless to say, we are one happy little family today. :)
Until next time...

GREAT! Another boy is good. Love, Grdpa Chuck
