Five months! The funny thing is, in this picture, Coop is wearing 12 month pants (they are just a bit long) & an 18 month onesie (the sleeves are a bit long)! He's growing like crazy, and typically wears 9 month clothes, but doesn't have a whole lot of extra room in them so I suppose we'll be moving up to 12 months before we know it. He also moved up into size 3 diapers this month. Last Wednesday at Group, he weighed 17 lbs 7 ozs, and when I measured him this weekend he was 28 inches long.
Coop's doing great with his baby food, that kid can eat! He gets rice cereal & food twice a day now. I was going to wait until sometime this week or next to go from once a day to twice, but he was definitely ready for it last week. On Friday I made sweet potatoes for him (we have a Baby Bullet), and he tried them for the first time Saturday. It was super easy to make, and Coop loves them! So now he gets cereal, sweet potatoes, and prunes at each meal. The doctor told us when we started adding food that he mostly needs cereal, so we probably won't add many more food before his six-month check up.
Coop is pretty close to being able to sit on his own, but still wobbly. He tries to sit forward if we prop him up against a pillow or in his stroller (we don't use the car seat in the stroller any more), so it won't be long.
Coop's starting to turn his head when we say his name, not all the time, but he's definitely beginning to recognize his name.
Coop still hasn't seemed to remember how to roll from his belly to his back, but he's rolling like crazy from his back to his belly. When we put him down, he doesn't last long before he's flipped over. Sometimes he'll play that way for a while, but eventually gets frustrated. Thankfully he doesn't roll over in his crib when we put him to bed. I know he can roll over in his sleep sack, he's done it out in the living room, but I'm glad he doesn't do it in his crib. He did one morning, but I rolled him back over, and he fell back asleep.
Coop used to do this really loud, high pitched holler & to try to stop him, I started tapping my hand on his mouth, making him do the "indian call." It would stop him from yelling right away, but quickly became a game. Luckily he's stopped the yelling for the most part (or at least it's quieter now), but likes to do the indian call. He can't do it completely on his own, but if you pat your hand on his mouth, he'll get started.
Coop likes to be tossed into the air (just barely out of our hands), and usually it gets him giggling a lot more than this.
So, another month down. It's hard to believe that he'll be six months old soon. Where in the world has the time gone?!
Until next time...
