This month seems to be bigger than all the rest. It's not just that another month has passed (they seem to be flying by, each faster than the last!), but the fact that he's half a year old. How can he be half way (technically just over half way now) to his first birthday?!
Of course he's still growing like crazy. At his six-month check up last week, he was 29" & 18 lbs. He actually lost a half a pound from the last time I weighed him at Group two weeks before, but the doctor wasn't worried. She wants to keep an eye on it, but since he's been teething & I was sick, she said it's not anything to worry about it.
One month & six months, in the same clothes
Speaking of teething, both bottom teeth are completely broken through & coming in great. This picture is from last week, and they're actually up quite a bit more already.
Thankfully he's learned pretty quickly how to nurse with them, although he has bitten me a few times. And yes, he is wearing pink there. We got a few free sleep sacks from our friend Jessica (mom of the kids I watch), so they are pink, purple, and yellow. I figure it's not a big deal when he's just sleeping in them at night! But of course I had to get a few pictures. ;)
He's perfectly happy wearing pink!
Coop is sitting like a champ! He doesn't even need to be supported any more, although I usually put a pillow or the Boppy behind him just incase he does topple over. Occasionally he'll try to look up or reach too far & won't catch himself before falling over. He likes to lean way forward when he's sitting too, and he looks like he's going to just take off & crawl.
He's started reaching his arms out to us when we go to pick him up off the floor. It's so cute! He'll also reach out to me sometimes someone else is holding, and I start to act like I'm going to take him. I haven't noticed if he does the same for Nick or not. Thankfully he's still happy being held by other people, and it's not like he's always fighting to get to me.
At his doctor appointment last week, the doctor okayed pretty much any food we want to give Coop. He's not allowed strawberries, peanuts, peanut butter, fish, or shrimp, but other than that she said we can mash up or blend anything we're eating & give it to him. We still need to wait a few days between introducing new foods, and he still doesn't need any liquids other than breastmilk, but we're really looking forward to being able to feed him all sorts of new stuff. This weekend we let him chew/suck on some McDonald's french fries & he loved them!
Coop's doing great playing with toys, and passing them from one hand to the other. Even with smaller toys (he was playing with a pacifier this weekend), he's doing a great job.
Coop is getting much more interested in Raven, and loves trying to "pet" her. He's actually really good & hasn't started pulling her hair/ears/anything too much, but he does try to grab her tongue when she licks him. We've been trying to keep her from licking him at all, but have come to terms with the fact that it's probably just about impossible, so we'll be happy if she at least stops licking him in the face. We'll see how that goes!
As always, we're excited to see what the next month brings!
Until next time...
