Construction - Day Three

It was a noisy day around here, the workers jacked out half of the concrete that was left in the garage.  It gave me quite a headache, but thankfully Coop was able to sleep through it.  I love that he can sleep through just about anything!

All the piers are in place outside of the garage, and all the holes are dug inside the garage.  They are also working on tunneling to get under the fireplace in the basement.

They packed up a bit early today since it looked like it would rain any minute, but said they think they will be ready to jack up the house by Friday.

The right side of the garage floor is completely jacked out.

They will use these 20-ton jacks when they lift the house.  After they jack up the house, they'll place more pier pieces in to support the house, then remove the jacks.  Here's a little more about the pier system.

They put in this steel beam under the door from the house to the garage.

The steel beam goes all the way under the wall here.

This is the deep hole (about 6 ½ feet) where they are tunneling to get under the fireplace.

Nick was able to just reach the back side of the hole/tunnel.

This void is basically right under the closet in the entry.

Today they also dug the trench for the waterproofing & new drain tile.

Tomorrow they will probably finish digging the trench on the north side of the house (right now it only goes to the A/C), and hopefully they'll finish jacking out the concrete in the garage.

Until next time...
