Construction - Day Two

I wasn't here today to see any of the work done, but the crew was hard at work again.  Piers have been driven in all but a few of the holes, and they got more dug up in the garage.  There is still one spot in the garage that they need to jack out & dig down, otherwise they are at least started on all the holes for the piers.

This hole is right under the door from the house to the garage.

The deepest hole in the garage, the southeast corner.  I still wonder how they climb out of these!

This wide hole is where they will dig down, then tunnel under the foundation to put two piers under the fireplace in the basement.  We are hoping they are able to get where they need from the garage side so they don't have to place these piers from the inside.

This short wall is the wall between the garage & the closet in the entryway.

These are the pier segments that are driven into the ground.  They are concrete-filled steel tubes.

This cracked me up - yesterday at lunch time I saw one of the guys carrying a microwave into the backyard.

We don't know yet when they're going to be ready to lift the house, they thought yesterday that they might not be done until Saturday.  I guess we'll see.

Of course it was nice having a little helper as we surveyed all the day's work.  :)
